This semester Tri Chi voted in Buck Schroeder as the newest beau! Buck is a sophomore Accounting major from Conway, Arkansas. He is so eXXXcited to be wearing that new set of letters! And he can finally throw the CHI up in public now!
This spring in early March Tri Chi took their annual spring outing and went to the big city of Dallas! While there girls went to Six Flags, ate at the Magic Time Machine, shopped at the Galleria, and went to Billy Bob’s. Though there was a lot of rain during the weekend, no one let it get them down. Over 70 girls made the trip down and had a blast! Much thanks to Social Chair’s Lindsey Barnhart and Karissa Winfrey for all their hard work in planning the weekend!

Rush is fun but rush is stress, it can put your heart to the test!
Tri Chi had a great rush experience this year! Vice-president Kinsey Ann Carpenter and her committee put countless hours into getting the rush nights together. Club Night, a recent addition to OBU Rush, was a chance for Tri Chi to showcase all aspects of the club such as intramurals, Tiger Tunes, 80’s night, and more. Wednesday night was Western night, always a favorite for members and rushee’s alike. The committee put all their Pinterest knowledge into good use by incorporating mason jars and cowboy boots into the decor, giving the night a new look. Jazz Night, also commonly known as cheesecake night, was another exciting time for the girls. Junior Lara Overman worked hard on putting together a video for the rushees to watch and hear why various Tri Chi’s chose to pledge and their experience in Tri Chi. The week ended with Traditional Night where Tri Chi PC’90 Lori Abbott Motl spoke about her experience in the club. It was a touching night for seniors as they concluded their rush experience here at Ouachita.
178 girls went through rush this year, a record setting year for the school. Of these, 47 made the decision to put on the TC letters and join the sisterhood!
Check out the pictures from Rush 2012.
On Saturday, January 15th, PC ’08 Tri Chi Kristen Glover competed in the Miss America pagaent in Las Vegas, Nevada. With Tri Chi’s all across the U.S. watching, Kristen looked beautiful as she went onstage and competed. She was a finalist in the Quality of Life Award, an award for contestant’s platforms. Now that she has returned back to Arkansas Kristen will finish up her reign as Miss Arkansas. She began her journey to Miss America last February when she competed in the Miss OBU pageant, representing the Women of Tri Chi. She won Miss OBU and in July went on to win Miss Arkansas. Tri Chi is proud of all she has accomplished!
This year, as the Real Housewives of Clark County, we took you back in time to experience the 50s era housewives. We truly hoped you enjoyed the show! As reward for our work, Tri Chi took home the prize for Choreography during one of the performances, and People’s Choice overall! We are so exxxcited to be given People’s choice for the second year in a row!
A Big thanks to the wonderful ladies who made it all happen: Hope Phillips (Head Director), MyLisa Speer and Caroline Gill (Assistant Directors). We could not have done it without your vision. Thanks also to OSF and to everyone who voted for us for People’s Choice…we had fun!!!!
So, with Tunes finally over, and the craziness of life dying down, it is time to update everyone on what Tri Chi has been up to lately.
So far, we have participated in five philanthropy events
The MDA Telethon, where a group of Tri Chi women fielded phone calls for the MDA, along with Tri Chi Alum and Miss Arkansas Kristen Glover.
Tiger Serve Day was a huge success with four teams that did a wide variety of projects, and had a wonderful time serving the community of Arkadelphia.
We are also actively participating in Compassion International and have enjoyed receiving letters from a few of our kids! They always ask the cutest questions and have the sweetest hearts and pictures!
Another project that Tri chi supported this semester is Race For The Cure in Little Rock a few weekends ago. WE created a team and took somewhere are 15 to 20 girls down to participate. We hope that we have done our mothers, friends, aunts, cousins, sisters, and teachers who have fought Breast Cancer proud!
Finally, while participating in Tiger Tunes, we brought the women of the Promise House in Little Rock down for dinner and the show for the third year in a row! (The Promise house is home to at-risk, runaway, and homeless teens in Little Rock.)
We are also looking forward to working to put together Thanksgiving baskets, Operation Christmas Child packages, Christmas Caroling with the Men of Kappa Chi, and a special spiritual retreat/ philanthropy project before the end of the semester!
We are so eXXXcited to welcome three new beaus into our TC family! Congratulations to Michael Curtis, Caleb Knight, and Kirby Von Edwins! We are so glad that you are joining our 7 current beaus in representing us on campus! We love all of you guys!
