About Tri Chi

In the fall of 1988, Angie Schlieff felt called by God to form a different kind of women’s social club. She ignored the call as long as she could because she was a member of another women’s social club at the time. She struggled and prayed over this decision for a while; then she began the process that would create Tri Chi Women’s Social Club. After obtaining the necessary information from the Dean of Women Students, the first thing Angie did was write a letter to the other women’s social clubs. She simply asked if any of their members would be willing to join her in chartering this new club.

The response was overwhelming, and with members of other clubs and previously independent students, Tri Chi was formed with 22 charter members. These women deliberated over a new constitution, choosing colors, and deciding on a macot. Because the club was new, it did not participate in Rush of 1989. Instead it  held an induction period which attracted 12 new members. In 1990, TC participated in Rush and accepted its first pledge class of 21 girls.

The rest, well…it’s history…
